Great trek, great guide

November 22, 2025

I had the pleasure to experience the Annapurna Base Camp in August together with Tanka. Since it was rain season and I was a single traveler I traveled alone with him which made it even more a pleasure that Tanka is a fun guy to be with and that he is open to conversation and shared many interesting insights into his life and culture. When I wanted to be for myself and walk in silence that was also very easily possible.

I really liked the trek during rain season, everything was so green and it was nice temperature also up at the base camp. A highlight was the last ascend during sunrise and the setting the sunrise at the camp. We were lucky with the weather and in was a clear morning.

Tanka is an interesting guy, he is fluent in English, he is a pleasure to be with and he is also very experienced, I always felt very safe.

I hope to see you again some time!

Amazing Views! Exciting Treks! Excellent Guide, Tanka Dahal!

November 17, 2025

My son and I went on a 10-day trekking adventure in ABC with our guide Tanka. Our trek from Poon Hill to Annapurna Base Camp was both challenging and unforgettable. The trails tested our endurance, but every step was rewarded with breathtaking scenery — from sweeping valleys to the majestic snow-capped peaks of the Annapurna range. These stunning landscapes made even the toughest climbs feel worthwhile.

What truly elevated the journey was our wonderful and cheerful guide, Tanka. With his expert skills, steady guidance, and immense knowledge of the mountain ranges, he turned the trek into an enriching and enjoyable experience. His stories, encouragement, and warm personality added a special touch to our adventure.

It was a memorable journey filled with beauty, challenge, and great companionship — an experience we will cherish for years to come. Thank You Tanka! You are the Best!

Overview of Annapurna Base Camp Trek via Poon Hill

The Annapurna Base Camp Trek via Poon Hill is one of the world’s most popular moderate trekking routes. The trail passes through charming villages, cascading waterfalls, terraced farmland, and vibrant rhododendron forests before leading to the base of the towering Annapurna range. Throughout the journey, trekkers enjoy spectacular views of major peaks that form the heart of the Annapurna massif.

The region is home to several iconic mountains, including Annapurna I, Hiunchuli, Annapurna II, Gangapurna, Annapurna III, Machhapuchhre, and Annapurna IV. Although not the tallest in the Himalayas, these peaks rise dramatically from deep valleys, creating breathtaking scenery.

This trekking route offers not only natural beauty but also cultural richness. Travelers get the chance to experience the traditions, lifestyle, and hospitality of diverse ethnic communities—especially the Gurung people—along with the region’s unique vegetation and wildlife.

The journey begins with a short drive from Pokhara to Nayapul. Pokhara, known for its serene lakes and mountain views, serves as the gateway to the trek. From Nayapul, the trail leads through Tikhedhunga, Ghorepani, Poon Hill, Tadapani, Chhomrung, and Deurali on the way to Annapurna Base Camp.
